I have been using WM at this location since 2000 and lately, they have decided they will not empty the same recycling bin that has been picked up every week for all these years. The Rockland Key office staff are useless. It sounds like they are gritting their teeth to be civil and will cut off the phone call before you can even say thanks or bye. When I call they reassure me that someone will come out and pick up the bin but no one ever does. This has happened multiple times. At one point, I was able to call a supervisor who was excellent at taking care of these issues but unfortunately he has moved on. If there is an issue that's my fault, I would appreciate knowing what it is so that I can address it but so far they have not been forthcoming with that either. Update: It took a day of phone calls and complaining to a county official but they did finally empty my recycle bin. Today was regular garbage day. Rather than pick up my can and empty it into the truck, they lazily plucked the top bag of trash out of the can and left behind the bag of used cat litter to smell up the trash can until next pick up. It shouldn't take this much kvetching to get basic trash service. It's not like it's free - they are charging me for the service. Update: MORE poor service!! Instead of dumping my entire trashcan, the guy plucks the top bag out of the can and leaves all the bags of dirty kitty litter in the bottom - every week. The lady I called about it, today, was very nice on the phone and said she would report it to my route manager and try to get someone to come out and finish emptying it. We'll see. I hope. I am spending a ridiculous amount of time these days, trying to get the trash pick up service I'm paying for.

Literally the most rude psycho customer service rep I’ve ever experienced - 8/22/23 - 3;50pm. I asked male rep why our street was missed again, and he replied “I can’t even get a burger at McDonald’s, were hiring and training new staff, it’s the keys it’s just something you have to deal with”.

The regular garbage guy is fairly good. Picks up the trash consistently. Pretty much always checks both TRASH cans and takes them if full. The Recycle Guy is fairly regular. Always picks up the blue can. May or may not pick up any large recycling cardboard boxes we leave outside of the Blue recycle bin. Sometimes the card board boxes are just too big to fit into the recycle bin even in you break them down. Now....the Yard Waste guys absolutely Suck. Sorry for the vulgarity, but no other word describes them. My yard waste gets picked up about 50% of the time, then sits out there for a another week or two. I once just left it out by the road to see how many weeks it would take them to pick it up. Basically for the entire month of February, it just sat out there at the side of the road. My regular trash (two cans) sits in a bin with critter proof cans. There is no mistaking that they are trash. For my yard waste, I bought the very RED Rubbermaid brand trash cans that everyone else seems to purchase at ACE hardware. I even have a separate skid made out of a pallet to put the Yard Waste cans on so they are identifiable and not confused with the Trash Cans. Still doesn't help. Problem is this: Seems that if the yard debris sticks out of the can with no lid, the yard guys will pick it up. but if the yard waste sticks out 14 inches out the top of the can, they will just leave it. So I try to cut it down as much as possible so they will pick it up, but not too low or smashed into the can because they won't see that it's yard waste and drive on by. Now, living in Big Pine Key, everyone has plenty of Key deer looking for a free yard waste meal. Inventible, those deer are going to knock the can down if they can smell the waste. If a can gets knocked over, the yard guys are not going to pick up the can on it's side, and certainly not going to pick up any of the remaining yard waste on the ground. Of course, I am responsible for the clean-up. I get it. So, I started putting the lids on those cans to prevent the smell of tasty leaves from getting out ( and the yard waste getting out if a deer knocks them over). Big mistake. Yard guys must believe it's all trash (Garbage) and drive on by. But the trash guy won't pick up yard waste, and neither with the recycle guy. So there my RED cans just sit alone at the side of the road waiting for a pick up that will never come. Or maybe it will.
